The invention concerns a system for selecting images acquired by several cameras directed on fixed or mobile objects. The images are sent to a management center, said management center receiving data concerning the behaviour of said objects, and being responsible for selecting the image to be broadcast. The invention is characterized in that each camera acquires images whereof the position in the visual environment is defined by direction and angle of view sensors and transmitted to the management center (14), said management center comprising a database (20, 21, 22) wherein are stored data qualifying the images and enabling to establish an image index on the basis of portions of the acquired visual environment and data concerning the behaviour of the objects. Once said data have been processed by the management center, the latter comprises means for selecting the image with the highest index.
