PURPOSE: A frost elimination device for a heat pump type air conditioner is provided to prevent discharge of cool air in heating, and to eliminate frost from an outdoor heat exchanger by transferring heat to the outdoor heat exchanger with installing a metal member between the outdoor heat exchanger and a compressor or an outdoor motor. CONSTITUTION: A frost elimination device of an air conditioner comprises an outdoor heat exchanger(53) operating as a condenser in cooling and as an evaporator in heating; a compressor(51) compressing low temperature and pressure refrigerant into high temperature and pressure refrigerant; and a heat transfer unit(80) for elimination frost of the outdoor heat exchanger by transmitting heat from the compressor to the outdoor heat exchanger. Frost is eliminated from the outdoor heat exchanger by transferring heat to the outdoor heat exchanger in driving the compressor with the high thermal conductivity metal member.
