<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video server system which needs a short interruption time in the event of a failure in an encoder and restrains the expansion of the system scale and the cost rise. <P>SOLUTION: The system comprises signal switches 81, 82 for selecting video signals, common preliminary encoders 31, 32 for coding the video signals to be selected by the signal switches 81, 81, and a distribution controller 71 for instructing an encoder of an input logic port and a video pump 51 of an output address upon requests from video restoring terminals 61-63. The video pump 51 comprises an input port monitor 52 for detecting a failure on the input logic port, and an input port controller 55 for outputting the corresponding relation between the input logic port and the encoder. If the input port monitor 52 detects a failure, the distribution controller 71 stops sending video signals, and outputs instructions to the common preliminary encoder 31 or 32 for designating an output address and to the signal switch 81 or 82 for selecting video signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
