The invention concerns a method for directly preparing high-purity PBr3 which consists in reacting gaseous HBr having a bromide weight content not more than 10 ppm on PCl3, in the absence of diluent or solvent, with a HBr3/PCl3 mol ratio ranging between 3 and 5, at a temperature between 10 °C and 40 °C.
