Fuel cell system comprises a fuel cell (3) and a gas producing system (2) for producing a hydrogen-containing gas for the fuel cell. The gas producing system has a device (19) for introducing a gaseous fuel. The gaseous fuel is introduced into the gas producing system in a region before the reformer stage (8). An Independent claim is also included for a process for starting up a fuel cell system comprising initially introducing a gaseous fuel into the gas producing system and controlling the combustion in a catalytic burner (15, 16). Preferred Features: The gaseous fuel is produced from a liquid starting material methanol (CH3OH) or a mixture of water and CH3OH. The device for introducing the gaseous fuel is formed as a pyrolysis stage or a partial oxidation stage. |
