PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet irradiation device capable of detecting even small leakage of cooling water with good reaction and preventing minimum the leakage into a lamp house. SOLUTION: To the ultraviolet irradiation device, a lamp irradiating ultraviolet, a lamp house containing the lamp and a pipe introducing water for cooling into the lamp house are provided. A pressure switch for detecting pressure inside the lamp house is provided. Also, a water sensor is provided in the lamp house of the ultraviolet irradiation device. Furthermore, a control means for detecting water leak from at least one of the pressure switch or the water sensor and stopping water introduction is provided.
