PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator which reduces visual difficulty caused by direct illumination of fluorescent lamps without damaging the color tone of a signboard or the like by the fluorescent lamps, and also prevents appearance of an illuminated surface of the signboard from worsening owning to deterioration of the fluorescent lamps. SOLUTION: An illuminator using fluorescent lamps as light sources characterized in uniting what is called a front-lighting system and a back-lighting system in which both of the front and back surfaces of the signboard placed in the retreated side of the fluorescent lamps are illuminated with: the direct light of the fluorescent lamps arranged in the two facing directions; and the reflected light reflected by reflecting plates arranged outside of the fluorescent lamps. |
