摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of reducing the required space even if a plurality of circuits are connected in multiple stages on a single board. SOLUTION: Related to a Mach-Zehnder interferometer type optical circuit 111 as an optical device, first - third stages of asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer type optical circuits 1131 , 1132 , and 1133 are connected in sequence, arranged in spiral, on a substrate 112. Each Mach-Zehnder interferometer type optical circuit 113 comprises two arms, a short arm 114 and a long arm 115, and a directional coupler 116. An MMI coupler may be used instead of the directional coupler 116. The optical circuit of multi-stage configuration may comprise other optical circuits as well as the Mach-Zehnder interferometer type optical circuit 111, or may comprise a combination of them. By allowing a part of or the entire optical circuit to be spiral, implementation density can be raised to miniaturize an optical device.</p>
