New nitroso diphenylamine derivatives are nitrogen monoxide generating agents, useful for treating pathologies characterized by an oxidative stress condition

Nitroso diphenylamine derivatives (I) and intermediates in their preparation are new. Nitroso diphenylamine derivatives of formula (I), their solvates and stereoisomers are new: W' = O or S; Rt = halo; optionally unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon, optionally interrupted with O and/or S and optionally halogenated; NO2; carboxyl; or CN; i = 0-5; R<1> = an optionally substituted, optionally unsaturated aromatic heterocyclic; an optionally substituted, optionally unsaturated aromatic carbocyclic; -E-Q; or -E-Ar; E = optionally substituted alkylene or alkenylene; Q = amino optionally substituted by 1 or 2 optionally unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon groups; Ar = an optionally substituted, optionally unsaturated and/or aromatic carbocyclic radical; or an optionally substituted, optionally unsaturated and/or aromatic heterocyclic radical; or an optionally halogenated, saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon; with the exclusion of (I) where i = 1; Rt = 2-methyl; and R<1> = Me. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I); (2) new compounds of formula (II); and (3) compositions comprising a compound of formula (I), (IIA) or (IIB) in combination with excipients. where (II) is either: (IIA) where: W' = S; or (IIB) where W' = O R1a = pyridyl; or naphthyl, coumarinyl, oxazolyl, benzoxazolyl, benzofuryl, 4-oxo-4H benzopyranyl or cinnamyl, each optionally substituted; aminoalkyl; alkylaminoalkyl; dialkylaminoalkyl; or phenyl optionally substituted by 1 or more CN, carboxyl, NO2, halogenated 1-4C alkoxy, optionally halogenated 1-14C-thioalkoxy, halogenated 1-14C alkyl, 1-14C alkylcarbonyl (in which alkyl is optionally halogenated), 1-14C alkoxycarbonyl (in which alkoxy is optionally halogenated), 6-18C arylcarbonyl (in which aryl is optionally substituted by halo), optionally halogenated 1-14C alkyl or 1-14C alkoxy, 1-14C alkylcarbonylamino (in which alkyl is optionally halogenated), 6-18C arylcarbonylamino (in which aryl is optionally substituted by halo), optionally halogenated 1 14C alkyl and 1-14C alkoxy; and 6-18C aryl optionally substituted by halo, optionally halogenated 1-14C alkyl, and optionally halogenated 1-4C alkoxy; with the exclusion of (IIB) where R1a is dimethylaminomethyl, dimethylaminoethyl and diethylaminomethyl.
