PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device that can ensure, with a relatively simple and low cost structure, the uniformity of a lubricant applied to the surface of an image carrier. SOLUTION: In the contact portion of a lubricant application brush 10 with a photoreceptor belt 1, the direction in which the brush 10 rotates and the direction in which the belt 1 rotates are set so as to be opposite to each other. By the contact of the lubricant application brush 10 with the bar-shaped solid lubricant 9, the lubricant is scraped little by little, and the lubricant transferred to the lubricant application brush 10 is applied to the surface of the photoreceptor belt 1 in contact with the brush. By making the on/off timing of the rotation of the lubricant application brush 10 in monochrome image formation different from that of multicolor image formation, the amount of lubricant is optimized both in monochrome image formation and in multicolor image formation, thereby maintaining stable image quality. |
