METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECORDING VIDEO SIGNAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a video signal with standard/high definition with highly efficient in-frame compression. SOLUTION: A television signal from an input terminal 1 is fed to a luminance/chrominance separation and chrominance decode circuit 2, an analog/ digital converter circuit 3 converts a separated luminance signal and two separated color difference signals into a digital video signal, and the digital video signal is fed to a video signal processing circuit 6 having a wavelet conversion circuit 4 and an entropy coding circuit 5. Then a compressed video signal compressed by the video signal processing circuit 6 is fed to an error correction and signal forming circuit 7, where an error correction code is generated in cooperation with e.g. a 16 M memory 8 and the code is attached to the compressed video signal. Then an audio signal fed to e.g. an input terminal 9 is applied to the error correction and signal forming circuit 7 through an analog/ digital converter circuit 10 and an audio signal processing circuit 11. The error correction and signal forming circuit 7 mixes the processed audio signal to the video signal with the error correction signal attached thereto in time division and the mixed signal is fed to a video head (not shown) through an RF block 12 acting like a recording means.
