COMPOSITION FOR LOWERING BLOOD LIPID LEVEL COMPRISING A LYCIUM ROOT EXTRACT

PURPOSE: Provided is a composition containing a lycium root extract which lowers dramatically blood lipid level, inhibits cholesterol metabolism related enzyme, prevents and treats diseases associated with blood lipid level, and protects liver function. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition characteristically comprises a lycium root extract and is thus useful for lowering blood lipid level. It contains as active ingredient a lycium root extract to inhibit the activity of Amyl-CoA-cholesterol-O-acyltransferase(ACAT). The lycium root extract is obtained by using water or ethanol as an extraction solvent.
