PURPOSE: A DCDP(Digital Convergence Disc Player) for displaying an operation state relating to a power-saving mode and a method for controlling the same are provided to carry out the power saving mode if any command is input by a user for a predetermined time while a DCD is secured and inform the user of the engine operation state for avoiding the unnecessary power control. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a DCDP includes the steps of measuring a predetermined time while an engine is immediately accessible to a DCD(S40), transmitting a power control command of a host requesting the engine to carry out a power saving mode if any command for the engine operation is not input to the host for the predetermined time(S50), and displaying the power saving mode conversion of the engine for the recognition of a user(S60).
