PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device of a main rope for an elevator capable of easily cleaning a stretched main rope of an elevator without complicated trouble. SOLUTION: The main rope is wound around and stretched on a sheave supported on a fixing part. A case 8 is arranged so as to face to one side of an outer side of the main rope, an upper surface and an upper side of an opposite surface to the main rope are opened, an oil receiving part 9 is formed on a lower part, and a recessed part 19 is provided on an opposite surface to the main rope. One end of a cleaning piece 12 is attached on a side of an upper edge of an inner surface of the case 8, other end of the cleaning piece 12 includes a recessed part 13 for engaging with the main rope, and a connecting tool 14 for detachably connecting each of cases 8 temporarily provided on both sides in a cross sectional direction of the main rope is provided. With this structure, the main rope which moves by operation of the elevator is slid on the recessed part 13 of the cleaning piece 12, and foreign objects such as lubricant and dust are squeezed, and are housed in the oil receiving part 9.
