A light concentrating dental tool apparatus has an elongate handle (20) defining a longitudinal axis and a light transmissive utility element (60) at one or both ends of the handle (20). The utility element (60) providing an outwardly facing, light receiving, top surface (80), and a downwardly converging cone-shaped body (62) terminating with an integral workpiece (66) adapted for moving a dental matrix band (170). A light disbursing surface (64) directs light outwardly for curing a dental resin. The light disbursing surface (64) provides a downwardly directed flat portion (79) used for leverage against the dental preparation, and a downwardly curved portion (79') in mutually opposing juxtaposition, for pressing against the matrix band (170). The flat (79) and the curved (79') portions define a common axis of symmetry forming an angle with said longitudinal axis so as to allow the tool to be used to provide improved visibility by the practitioner. A tapered mounting structure (63, 26) enables the utility element (60) to be removed and reset within the handle (20) at a selected angle. |
