In a process to spin fleece fibres, a curtain array of fibres are spun in parallel, drawn from numerous capillaries by aerodynamic forces and discharged from a stretching passage (12). The warp thread (8) emerging from the passage (12) is subjected to alternating horizontal air buffeting on both sides, causing transverse thread motion. <??>As seen in the horizontal plane, the air buffeting is inclined with respect to the emerging thread (8). Each buffet impulse is separated from the next opposing buffet cycle by a time lapse. The air is directed at right angles to the emerging fibre (8). The air is directed at 15 with respect to the horizontal or vertical plane. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly. A preferred embodiment has a hollow roller with slits, located in a passage within a separate longitudinal passage.
