<p>The invention relates to a motor vehicle starter comprising a starter drive assembly equipped with a pinion (1), a driver (2) and a coupling device with a cone clutch which is used to couple the pinion to the driver (2). According to the invention, the cone clutch comprises a first truncated cone-shaped friction surface (8) which is solidly connected to the pinion and a second truncated cone-shaped friction surface (8') which has a complementary shape to the first surface (8) and which is solidly connected to the driver. Moreover, the coupling device comprises (i) a hollow coupling part, the base of which extends into an annular skirt which is directed axially towards one of the pinion-driver elements, and (ii) axially-operating elastic means (10) which rest on a first end piece that is solidly connected to the coupling part for acting on a second end piece that is solidly connected to one of the pinion-driver elements. The elastic means comprise axially deformable strips (10b) which extend in a circumferential manner.</p> |
