PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorization apparatus which is capable of treating the malodorous gas of a higher concentration region than that of the conventional deodorization apparatus using power active carbon and is low in a running cost while solving the problem of the outflow of the active carbon which is the cause for pollution problems and an increase of the running cost. SOLUTION: This deodorization apparatus for the malodorous gas brings the malodorous gas containing the sulfur-base components admitted into a scrubber cleaning column 1 into contact with an alkaline cleaning liquid in the scrubber cleaning column 1 and neutralizes and removes the sulfur-base components in the malodorous gas. A packing material bed 5 packed with a packing material to promote the reaction with the alkaline cleaning liquid by increasing the areas where gas and liquid come into contact with each other is formed within the scrubber cleaning column 1 and a carbon material packed bed 6 packed with a porous carbon material is formed on the gas upstream side of the packing material bed 5.
