PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power cord holding device for an AC power tool of portable type. SOLUTION: A holding member of this power cord holding device holds a power cord in such a condition as engaged with an AC power supply jack as the mating party to be fitted provided inside the housing 12a of the power tool 12 and slides from the unlock position to the lock position within a slot formed in the housing 12a. In the lock position, a power cord plug takes the specified position and is held in such a condition as engaged with the power supply jack as the mating party provided inside the housing 12a. An unlocking member 48 having an energizing element locks the holding member, permits the holding member to slide in the direction of separating from the jack first when unlocking is made manually by the user, and enables the jack to be removed from the plug.
