<p>A feed of fibre band is delivered through a sickle-shaped rotating tube feed into a turntable which releases the fibre band into a holding can (11). The frictional forces are esp. at least partly reduced by altering the co-interference between the fibre band (9) and the sickle-shaped pay-out tube (12) inner face. A turntable for textile fibre band release unit e.g. drafting, carding assembly, has a curved feed passage with an inlet and outlet for the fibre band. The inlet is coaxial to the axis of rotation, and the outlet is at a radially and axially separated from the inlet. The fibre band is subjected to a first initial tensile force and there is relative motion between the moving fibre band and band passage inner wall, causing friction between the two. The amount of friction between the moving fibre band and channel inner face is reduced by a change in the spatial arrangement between the fibre band and the tube inner face. The band has two contact zones within the sickle-shaped zones which are eliminated by aircushions driven by slotted air inlets in the contact zones. The slits may be perpendicular to the wall or angled in the direction of band travel. The air cushion is powered either by centrifugal forces or a blower fan.</p> |
