PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor advantageous in terms of compressive strength for an internal high pressure-type one by integrating a bottom surface of a lower cover of a hermetic container with legs and forming the bottom surface, which is exposed to internal pressure, into a spherical shape. SOLUTION: This hermetic compressor comprises a compression section 5 compressing refrigerant and a motor 6 driving the compression section 5 disposed in the hermetic container 1 composed of a cylindrical body 2 having upper and lower openings and dish-like upper and lower covers 3, 4 blocking the openings of the body 2. The lower cover 4 is formed into a spherical surface R with a center on the central axis of the body 2 and constituted of a vertical section 4a having a periphery smoothly connected to the spherical surface R and bonded to a lower peripheral surface of the body 2, a flat section 4b connected to the vertical section 4a and horizontally bent outwards, a folded section 4c vertically folded back from the flat section 4b downwards, and an attachment section 4d connected to the folded section 4c to horizontally extend outwards and attached to a base.
