PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce execution labor, easily adjust a level, facilitate installation even after finishing a decorative surface of the ceiling, and keep design even for both contracted and expanded widths of skeleton clearance. SOLUTION: This expansion joint is formed by having reinforcing ribs 2e in a state of orthogonally fixing a fixing member 1 formed by overhanging a holding part 1b having a slide hole 1c in the clearance depth direction from a fixing surface 1a fixed to one skeleton A, a depth directional backing part 2b slidable in the clearance depth direction to the holding part, and having a bolt through hole 2d, and a covering surface backing part 2a for mounting a cover material 3, and comprises a backing member 2 for arranging a level adjusting mechanism 5 in a lower part of the depth directional backing part 2b, a bolt 1d for connecting and fixing both members 1 and 2 via the slide hole 1c and the through hole 2d, the cover material 3 for forming an expansively opening inclined end surface 3a on the reverse of the decorative surface in an end part, and the decorative surface (the ceiling) 4 having an inclined end surface 4a joined to this inclined end surface in a parallel state.
