When asleep the patient wears a mask connected to atmosphere by a pipe (Zc). A hose (ZS) connects to a resisto-oscillometry generator in the form of a membrane pump or loud speaker to generate a flow oscillation at a fixed frequency. A hose (MS) connects to a measurement unit (M) containing an electronic pressure transducer, the output of which is connected to an analysis unit (A) to calculate the impedance (Z) of the air ways. A therapy unit can be connected to the pipe controlled by an output unit (O).
