摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque measuring apparatus by which the rotational speed and the axial torque of a rotating body can be measured precisely, with satisfactory accuracy and in an optically noncontact manner without being influenced by a noise. SOLUTION: The torque measuring apparatus 45 is provided with an output device 46 which outputs a laser beam, a beam adjusting device 48 which branches the output laser beam and which adjusts the beam diameter of each laser beam so as to irradiate the rotating body 21, a plurality of reflection means 50, 51 which are attached to different positions in the axial direction of the rotating body 21 so as to reflect the irradiated laser beam, light detection means 52, 53 which detect a change in the intensity of each reflected laser beam, and a signal processor 54 which finds the rotation cycle and the torque of the rotating body 21 on the basis of output signals from the means 52, 53. The device 48 is provided with a plurality of irradiation optical systems 65, 66 by which the rotating body 21 is irradiated with the laser beam. The systems 65, 66 are installed so as to be freely fine adjusted to a direction adjacent to the rotating body 21, function as optical sensors, and can measure the rotational speed and the torque of the rotating body 21 with satisfactory efficiency and in an optically noncontact manner.
