摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for controlling the refractive index of an optical material by which an optical material can be applied to various optical devices such as a fiber grating and an optical waveguide by enhancing the mechanical strength and transparency of the optical material, the refractive index can be exactly controlled and control can be carried out at a low cost because of a simple process. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the refractive index of an optical material, the refractive index of an optical material obtained by mixing a polysilane with a polymethyl methacrylate is lowered by irradiating the optical material with light in such a way that the polarizability of the polysilane is lowered.
