The invention concerns a method and an installation for treating objects by spraying a composition in the form of a mist using a spraying device (3) hand-held by an operator, adapted to form a jet of composition (2) capable of being directed towards an object (1) to be treated. It consists in generating and maintaining a air suction flow (31) generally downstream of the object (1) whereof at least a first part is tapped wherewith is created and maintained at least a front air curtain (22) extending in front of the operator with a general direction intersecting that of the jet of composition (3) upstream of its contact with the object (1) and moving away from the spraying device (3) and from the operator, so as to avoid reflections of mist composition towards the operator.
