Process for removing droplets from a glass strand continuously leaving a reservoir includes in a period of controlling a glass shear a cutting phase with a prescribed holding time for removing a droplet and accumulating the subsequent glass strand and a shot-term cutting phase for removing the accumulated part and releasing the non-accumulated part of the strand for the next droplet. Preferred Features: The holding time is 1-3 seconds whilst the shot-term cutting phase is approximately 0.9 seconds. Glass shearing is operated using an electrical servomotor which can be adjusted to different opening paths of the glass shear.
