PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider capable of securing a uniform float margin by suppressing individual deviation of a magnetic head and simulta neously securing the float margin of the magnetic head even under pressure reduction. SOLUTION: This head slider on which a head is mounted has dynamic pressure generating parts arranged along the rotation direction of a disk and negative pressure generating parts having steps that are deeper than those of the dynamic pressure generating parts between the dynamic pressure generating parts with a face confronting the disk as reference. A disk drive can be made to be large, change of head float quantity due to environment can be also reduced and stable float margin can be obtained by making depth of the negative pressure generating parts from the face confronting the disk to be variable.
