A decision feedback equalizer (DFE) has feed-forward (FF) and feed-back (FB) filters and uses displacement structure theory to compute optimum filter coefficients. The channel impulse response (CIR) estimate is computed first and then used to calculate the optimal equalizer coefficients. The FF filter coefficients are calculated first, then the FB coefficients are calculated by convolving the FF coefficients with the CIR. The channel is assumed to be time-invariant over the course of a single packet. The circuit used to implement the method uses a linear chain of Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) processing elements. An independent claim is also included for a circuit arrangement for equalizing a received signal in a digital filter.
|
