PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove a magnetic tape wound onto the rotary drum of a trommel. SOLUTION: A water-jet cutter 9 fitted with a high pressure nozzle 8 for jetting high pressure water and motor-operated slider 10 for reciprocating the cutter 9 in parallel with the axis of a rotary drum 1 are installed on the side of the drum 1. While the trommel is operated, with the distance between the magnetic tape 17 wound onto the drum 1 and the tip of the nozzle 8 kept approximately constant, while the nozzle 8 is reciprocated, the high pressure water is jetted toward the outer surface of the drum 1 so that the tape 17 can be cut efficiently by the jet of the high pressure water.
