PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary kiln having a function to automatically remove clinker through a simple mechanism without any need for a large installation space for a removing device. SOLUTION: In a rotary kiln consisting of a rotary cylindrical furnace body 1 rotatably supported and rotated in an inclining state, and housings 4 and 7 situated at the end parts on the inlet side and on the outlet side of the rotary cylindrical furnace body 1, a wire 10 is stretched between the housing 4 on the inlet side and the housing 7 on the outlet side through the internal part of the rotary cylindrical furnace body 1. The wire 10 is situated above a part at which refuse in the rotary cylindrical furnace body 1 resides, and stretched in a front position in a rotation direction of the rotary cylindrical furnace body 1 in a state to make contact with the inner wall surface of the rotary cylindrical furnace body 1.
