A single chip system capable of loading and running specific operating system is comprised of a microprocessor module, a random accesse memory (RAM), a read only memoey (ROM) and an interface module, the ROM, RAM and interface module are connected with the microprocessor by an internal bus in the chip. The single chip microprocessor system is integrated on an IC substrate or a chip and can be used having no use of any peripheral devices, for example, memory. The specific operating system (for example, Linux or Windows CE) and user application program may be pre-solidified in a read only memory (ROM) on the chip, or can be read into an erasable ROM on the chip though the interface module by user after deliverying the chip to the user. The specific operating system and user application program may be stored in the ROM in a compression or an un-compression way. After resetting the chip, the specific operating system and user application program can be run by the microprocessor module by transfering them to the random accesse memory (RAM) or decompressing them in the random accesse memory (RAM), or can be run directly in the read only memoey (ROM). The system communicates with other outside system through the interface module.
