PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silent discharge type air cleaning device constituted so as to achieve high dust collecting efficiency. SOLUTION: When the silent discharge type air cleaning device is constituted, an undulate shape part (not shown) for forming an edge part (corner or top part) or a recessed shape part (in the Figure, many circular through-holes) is provided on the surface of the back electrode 4. As a result, a higher dust collecting efficiency is achieved since many silent discharge columns having large energy are generated starting point from the edge part.
