PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device, in which a PLL synchronizing signal is normally read out and also the deterioration of data format efficiency is evaded, in a perpendicular magnetic recording system. SOLUTION: A read/write gate producing circuit 100 is disclosed, which is provided with the function to adjust the output timings of the write gate WG and the read gate RG in accordance with the space between read/write heads and also the data format. Each delay amount of a DSP producing circuit 91, a delay circuit 101 for adjusting the timing of the read gate RG, and a delay circuit 102 for adjusting the timing of the write gate WG, is set by a CPU 10.
