PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the illuminance around a television camera and its viewfinder and controls the luminance of a tarry lamp automatically to have a proper lightness so as to enhance the visibility of tarry indication by a person to be photographed and simplify the operation of a television camera by a cameraman. SOLUTION: An external illuminance around the television camera and its viewfinder are detected, the luminance of the tally lamp is controlled on the basis of parameters with respect to the detected value, a preset external illuminance and the visibility of the luminance of the tally lamp and the luminance of the tally lamp is automatically controlled to have a proper lightness, depending on the external illuminance.
