PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt-like member having good water barrier properties for forming a tube capable of easily forming the tube by reducing a reduction in a sectional area of a duct in an existing tube, and a method for forming the tube. SOLUTION: The belt-like member for forming the tube forms the tube while spirally winding the belt-like member. The belt-like member comprises a belt-like base, strips projected from a side face of the base at one end side of a width direction of the base toward the width direction, and a recess part formed at the side face of the other side of the width direction to receive the strips of the adjacent bases. The strip has an engaging part formed continuously in a longitudinal direction of the strip-like member, a thin slide part and formed continuously from a protruding distal end side of the engaging part and thinner than the engaging part, and a thick release inhibiting protrusion formed continuously at the distal end side of the slide part and thicker than the slide part. The recess part has a slide chamber formed continuously in the longitudinal direction to be freely inserted with the release inhibiting protrusion of the strip and the slide part, an inlet of the slide chamber capable of inserting the release inhibiting part into the slide chamber and inhibiting release, and a part to be engaged formed continuously at the inlet of the slide chamber to inhibit the release of the engaging part from the recess part by engaging the engaging part.
