PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and a manufacturing apparatus of optical fiber cable which do not allow even indirect adhesion of a talc when not applying the talc, but can attain efficient use of the same manufacturing equipment irrespective of whether the talc is applied or not. SOLUTION: The talc is applied to optical fiber ribbons 7a, 8a,... housed in the outer peripheral groove of a slot 2 in a state where the optical fiber ribbons are collected by a collecting machine 5 by a talc application means 11 arranged on the downstream side from the collecting machine 5, and then, ribbons of nonwoven fabric, water absorption ribbons 13 or the like are attached to the optical fiber ribbons and these are all sealed. The talc enters between the slot groove walls and the collected optical fiber ribbons, and the optical fiber ribbons are prevented from slip movement in the slot grooves. When the talc is not applied on the ribbons by the talc application means 11, the optical fiber cable without the talc application, which is prevented from even indirect adhesion of the talc by a roller or a pulley, is manufactured on the same production line.
