METHOD FOR SUPPRESSING SLIME IN NEUTRAL PAPER MAKING PROCESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for suppressing slime in a neutral paper-making process, capable of easily and effectively suppressing the generation of slime over a long period without relying upon empirical judgment by carrying out the microbial ecological analysis of the paper-making process and the clarification of the effect of various slime controlling agents on the dominant bacteria to determine the optimum combination of slime controlling agents and the specification for the alternating treatment with the controlling agents. SOLUTION: The method for suppressing the generation of slime in a paper- making process for producing paper in neutral state with a paper machine is carried out by the switching use of slime controlling agents comprising a slime controlling agent containing a quaternary ammonium salt-based surfactant or a bromoacetic acid ester compound as an active component and another slime controlling agent free from the quaternary ammonium salt-based surfactant and the bromoacetic acid ester compound in a single continuing operation period of the paper machine.
