Machine winding threads on spools, incorporates screen plate with air-permeable regions

The flat screen (8) includes air-permeable regions (9). The screen is a plate with perforations or slots in the air-permeable regions, and it optionally has inserts passing air. Permeable regions are located where highest air pressure differences would be expected on opposite sides of the plate, in their absence. They are in the front and rear regions of the screen, in relation to the direction of spool peripheral velocity. That part of the screen in the winding region, can be separated relative to the part in the spool-changing region. The screen is located between these regions, extending between common tangents (10) of the spools. The screen is close to the spool in the change region. Before the threads are wound onto the spool, they are passed over a pressure roller (2) in peripheral contact with it. A further screen (11) partially-surrounds the pressure roller.
