An apparatus, such as an inhaler, comprising a housing (1) defining a portion (2) receiving a dose-dispensing container (20), has a dose counter comprising at least one annular counter member 141, 142, a helix-like coil 143 and transmission means 144 for connecting the helix-like coil and the at least on annular counter member. Movement of the dose-dispensing container compresses the helix-like coil which rotates the transmission means and the at least one counter member. The helix-like coil may comprise an upper ring 153 and lower ring 154 connected by flexible struts 155. The counter members and helix-like coil are positioned within the housing (1) between the lower end of the container (20) and a support 146. Compression of the helix-like coil during operation causes the lower ring 154 and upper ring 153 to move towards each other and at the same time, due to the flexible struts, the upper ring rotates which rotates the transmission means 144 which in turn rotates the at least one counter member. |
