<p>1390329 Pyrazines MERCK SHARP & DOHME (IA) CORP 30 April 1973 [5 May 1972] 20477/73 Heading C2C Pyrazines are prepared by the following route (R=C 1-5 alkyl, Ph; R<SP>1</SP>=C 3-6 alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkynyl, Ph-(C 1-6 alkyl), indolyl-(C 1 _ 6 alkyl); R<SP>2</SP>=C1, R<SP>3</SP>=H or R<SP>2</SP>=OH, R<SP>3</SP>=sulphonyl group; R<SP>4</SP> = residue of aldehyde R 4 CHO), optionally followed by salt formation. An optically active product may be o ained from an optically active oxazolidine or by resolution. The preparation of the oxazolidine starting materials and the 1 ,2-dihydroxy-3.substituted aminopropanes from which they are derived is described. The pyrazines are #-adrenergic blocking agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.</p> |
