The invention comprises a long hollow tube (18) which is connected to two parallel pipes (1, 2) which are essentially perpendicular to the axis of the hollow tube and which are intended to be inserted in each of the openings made in the wall (5) of the liquid container (6). The upper part of the hollow tube is coupled to a transparent tubular extension (12) which is in fluid communication with said hollow tube. The inventive device also comprises an aerometer (13) which is fitted with a long upper graduated rod (20) and which can move freely in the vertical direction but with a certain degree of axial clearance inside the assembly. The upper end of the device comprises an air valve (16) for supplying air to or extracting air from said device and an electronic altimetrical reader (14) which is connected to a remote data processing device. The inventive device is particularly suitable for measuring densities of wines in fermentation vats.
