PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CD reproducing device which surely reproduces the CD from the vicinity of a target position even if the target position is not detected, without eternally repeating search operation. SOLUTION: This disk playback unit is provided with a pickup(PU) which detects recorded information from a track on the rotating CD, a feed means which moves the PU to the prescribed position, and a search operational control means for controlling the feed means by making it search completion judging condition to detect that the position of PU reaches within specific range from the target position for prescribed number of times when it cannot be judged whether the PU reaches the target position, by comparing the position of PU calculated by recorded information with the target position. The search operational control means makes it judging condition to detect that the PU is positioned within a prescribed address or track numbers from the target position, or is positioned only before or after the target position, when it cannot be judged whether the PU reaches the target position.
