The invention relates to a filter packaging which is placed in a filter housing (9) with an inlet (10) and an outlet (11) for the medium which is to be filtered. The filter packaging comprises an internal flow path through which one part of the medium which is to filtered flows in an unfiltered manner. An overpressure control valve (12) is disposed in said flow path (2; 15, 2) and closes the flow path when the pressure falls below a given value and which releases the flow path when the pressure is higher than said value. The inventive filter packaging is used, preferably, for filtering engine oil so that the engine is supplied with oil and lubricated immediately after the engine has been started. In order to improve the quality of the filtered medium, said filter packaging can be impregnated with an additive.
