PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confirmation method for a photocatalyst layer capable of simply and surely confirming the presence of a photocatalyst layer in a short time and of clearly visually confirming the existing part of the photocatalyst layer. SOLUTION: An examined body 2 is immersed into a metal ion solution 1, light 3 is applied and the presence of the photocatalyst layer 2a on the examined body surface is confirmed by the presence of deposition of a metal 4 on the examined body surface. When there is a part where the photocatalyst layer 2a is present, the metal 4 is deposited by the reducing action of the photocatalyst, so that not only the presence of the photocatalyst layer 2a but also its existing part can clearly be confirmed by viewing it.
