PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an entrance opening and closing device for an elevator formed so as to open and close a car sliding door and a landing sliding door engaged with each other and capable of reducing a clearance between a car and a landing. SOLUTION: An engaged body 15 for opening and closing drive force transmission is provided in the landing sliding door 4, and an engaged plate mechanism 34 is installed in a car sliding door 8 through a projecting and recessing mechanism 42. A pressing mechanism 19 for pressing the engaged plate mechanism 34 is installed in the sliding door 8 at the engaged position thereof engaged with engaged body 15 by the displacement of the opening and closing drive device by an initial door opening drive operation and the projection of the car 7 from an edge part 10. In addition, a holding mechanism for holding the pressing mechanism 19 at a displaced position by the initial door opening operation of the car sliding door 8 is installed in the car sliding door 8. Thus, a member projecting to a clearance between a landing edge part 3 and a car edge part 10 when an entrance is closed can be eliminated, the clearance can be designed smaller, and the access thereto of a wheelchair can be facilitated.
