PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording material especially with high recording sensitivity. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer recording material has a photothermal conversion layer containing at least a photothermal conversion substance and a resin on a support and optically records data. In this thermal transfer recording material, the half-band width of a maximum absorbance in the range of 70 to 1,200 nm of the photothermal conversion layer is 200 nm or less.
