PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device capable of exhibiting a screw pump effect favorable in its initial stage and in view of durability to keep favorable sealing performance over a long period of time in spite of abrasion of a seal lip. SOLUTION: The atmospheric side inclined surface 51 or the seal lip 5 is provided with a screw projection 6 having a ship bottom screw part 62 increased in screw height as it goes toward the atmospheric side, a parallel screw part 61 extended to the tip of the lip at a screw height smaller than the maximum screw height of the ship bottom screw part 62 and substantially constant, and a connecting part 63 provided between the ship bottom screw part 62 and the parallel screw part 61 for smoothly connecting the screw heights of both parts. |
