PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic thermostat which is small in size, lightweight, high in reliability, free of limitations imposed on the frequency of on/off operations, and can be used in place of a mechanical thermostat. SOLUTION: An electronic thermostat is composed of a polymer thermistor 11, which is arranged near to a heater 13 as an object of temperature control and displays a positive temperature coefficient of resistance, responding to heat released from the heater 13 as an object of temperature control and a transistor circuit 123, which performs a switching action by the output current of the polymer thermistor 11 and turns the power supply of the object of temperature control on or off. By this setup, the electronic thermostat 10 which is composed of the polymer thermistor 11 which displays a positive temperature coefficient of resistance and rises quickly in resistance when it gets higher than a certain temperature and a switching transistor circuit 12, small in size, lightweight, high in reliability and free from limitations, imposed on the frequency of on/off operations can be realized.
