PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low power consumption imaging apparatus in which a high reliability can be sustained while reducing the cost and sleep can be released quickly. SOLUTION: When power switch (not shown) is turned on, a CPU 4 reads program data from an FROM 7 and stores it in an SDRAM 5. When a second sensor 13 detects opening of a cover 14 or when a first sensor 12 detects insertion/draw-out of a first memory 8, a detection signal is transmitted to a Sub-CPU 10. In response to the detection signal, the Sub-CPU 10 operates to interrupt power supply to the CPU 4. Since the CPU 4 cannot read the program data from the FROM 7, noise is prevented from having effect on the program data stored in the SDRAM 5.
